Must go back to the nineteenth century Cuba, and more precisely to Santiago de Cuba, to trace the history of the rum factory "Methuselah". Those were the days of Prohibition in the U.S. and the only factor tempted thousands of Americans to discover the tropical glamor of Havana.
The company was born in 1872 through a partnership between brothers Benjamin and Eduardo Camp Evaristo Alvarez. Between the three, they found the key to the Caribbean tradition combine with the method of aging was usual in the development of sherry.
Over the years, Matusalem saw growing fame of its rums and although the 1959 Revolution stripped the Island brand, Dominican Republic nine became the company headquarters.
